The digital transformation is a defining process of our time, and its change and scale are unprecedented. Driven by the wide and rapid uptake of technologies such as Robotics and Artificial Intelligence (AI), it impacts all sectors across the globe. Through the Horizon 2020 programme, the European Commission (EC) funded Digital Innovation Hubs (DIHs) to accelerate innovation and support investments in order to apply the benefits of robotics and AI to key sectors, from manufacturing to the health, automotive, and agricultural industries. The EC granted five projects (viz., DIH-HERO, DIH², TRINITY, RIMA and AgROBOfood) to build a network of specialised DIHs. DIH-HERO focuses on healthcare robotics, DIH² and TRINITY work in agile production. RIMA focuses on inspection and maintenance of infrastructure, while AgROBOfood concentrates on robotics in the agri-food sector. These projects provide financial support to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) by offering up to €300k in equity-free funding and acceleration services.
The RAIC 2020 conference provides an unique opportunity for participants to learn about the latest developments and exchange views on the future direction of Robotics and AI applications in a cross-sectoral context. The conference aims to disseminate the knowledge and share new ideas amongst the professionals, industrialists and students from research area of Robotics and Artificial Intelligence to share their research experiences and partake in interactive discussions at the event. A dedicated networking and matchmaking session will provide information about open calls for funding to SMEs amounting to €40 Million and other collaborative opportunities.
